TOLEDO.- The Government of Castilla-La Mancha, through the Ministry of Finance, Public Administrations and Digital Transformation, has activated, at 3:00 p.m. today, the Specific Plan for the Risk of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (METEOCAM) , in emergency phase operational situation 1 in the province of Albacete.
The escalation of this Plan is motivated by the unfavorable evolution of the episodes of rain and storms predicted by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), which have intensely affected the town of Leturin order to make all the means assigned to Meteocam available to the intervening resources.
Already yesterday, in anticipation of this possible situation, the General Directorate of Citizen Protection carried out the activation of the Plan in the alert phase and sending an official communication to the city councils, so that they could establish prevention measures, inform the population and the municipal emergency services, in order to minimize the consequences that these phenomena could cause.
The 1-1-2 Emergency Service will provide permanent monitoring of all incidents that may occur in the Autonomous Community in relation to rains and storms.
The activation of this Specific Civil Protection Plan is part of the comprehensive action of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha to offer, in a coordinated manner and through the optimization of resources, a planned response to any emergency situation.
TIPS FOR HEAVY RAINS
In this situation, and in the case of storms, it is advisable avoid high areas and take shelter under treesin case there is a danger of electric shock. In the city, seek shelter in the shelter of buildings and avoid drafts inside houses, as these attract lightning.
If you are surprised by torrential rain caused by such a storm on the highway slow downadapting to the existing visibility; avoid passing through flooded sections, channels or boulevards and, if you are walking in the countryside, look for high places due to the possibility of flooding.
Regarding heavy rains, remove from your home the exterior elements that can be dragged by the water. If part of your home floods, leave basements and ground floors and disconnect the power.
Outside during heavy rain or storm Avoid parking your vehicle or wading with it in streams or channels.to avoid being swept away by a sudden flood of water. In this sense, stay away from valleys, rivers or torrents to avoid being surprised by a flood.
Finally, they must avoid traveling by road and, if necessary, inform yourself about the weather conditions in the area you are going to and take extreme precautions due to the possible presence of obstacles on the road.
