Game Informer published a new Metal Slug Tactics gameplay videowith sixteen minutes of in-game action that clearly illustrate the mechanics of the interesting turn-based strategy game based on the famous SNK series.
The game demo, available for free on Steamprovides three of the historical protagonists of Metal Slug, namely Marco Rossi, Eri Kasamoto and Fio Germi, and includes one of the settings that we will find in the full version.
Starting from a hub that we will be able to gradually enrich with new elements and possibilities, customizing the layouts and abilities of the characters on the roster, we will set off towards a sequence of structured missions with a roguelite approach and crowned by a challenging boss fight.
An alternative point of view
Arriving this autumn on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, Metal Slug Tactics undoubtedly offers an alternative point of view compared to the classic action shooter formula of the Japanese saga, with diorama-style scenarios and an isometric view.
To strongly characterize the gameplay we find a series of cooperative mechanisms, synchronized actions to eliminate enemies by ticking off an extra action and companion support, as well as devastating special moves.
All this is completed by an absolutely non-trivial level of challenge and by a surprising tactical depthwhich will not fail to win over fans of the strategy genre who perhaps fondly remember playing Metal Slug.
We’ll be back to talking about Metal Slug Tactics very shortly, as we’ve been playing the game for a few hours and can’t wait to tell you what we think of it.
