Mercadona is taking advantage of the work it is carrying out to clean and repair DANA damage in its supermarkets in the most affected areas to manage and extend this cleaning and adaptation work to the streets and nearby affected areas.
According to the company chaired by Juan Roigthe initiative, led by the company’s Works department, makes these equipment and personnel available to residents, with prior authorization from the city council, for cleaning and adaptation work.
In total, the company estimates that this contribution to the recovery of the municipalities amounts to two million euros, in which 16 suppliers also participate and are employing more than 110 people.
Among the latest tasks to recover the environment in stores, those carried out in Picanya, Paiporta, Alfafar, Catarroja and Aldaia. In this last municipality, in addition, in collaboration with the authorities, vehicles were removed from public roads. He also works in the nearby area. to the logistics block of Riba-roja de Túria.
The distribution company assures that “it will continue to do whatever is necessary to help Valencia recover its economic and social activity.” The company itself has seen several of its stores in the southern part of the metropolitan area affected, in addition to one of its main logistics blocks, the one located in Ribarroja.
Other initiatives
Among the actions that the Valencian supermarket chain is carrying out, it has already exceeded the figure of 300 tons of food and essential products delivered to social entities that serve those affected by the effects of DANA in the Valencian Community.
