Men most often endure stress, not giving vent to emotions, which negatively affects their reproductive function and potency, warned Doctor of Medical Sciences, head of the urological clinic “European Medical Center”, expert of the UmetEXPERTS community Nikolay Grigoriev. He warned about the danger of this habit for men’s health in a conversation with “Lenta.ru”.
The doctor explained that stress provokes an excessive release of adrenaline and cortisol hormones into the blood, the increased level of which suppresses the production of testosterone, and this, in turn, reduces the number of healthy and active spermatozoa. According to him, testosterone is responsible not only for sexual function, but also for the health of bones and muscles, attention, and brain function.
“When testosterone production is disrupted, a man becomes aggressive, anxious, and even tearful. His self-esteem suffers, and his mood changes dramatically,” Grigoriev explained. He compared this condition to PMS in women and noted that it develops mainly in men over 40, when a deficiency of male hormones develops.
During stress and nervous tension, vascular spasm occurs, which prevents blood from flowing to the genitals. Because of this, erectile dysfunction develops and a vicious circle is formed: the man worries – his erectile function suffers – stress develops even more
The doctor urged men to remember that stress often becomes a trigger for the development of cardiovascular diseases. If symptoms such as constant fatigue, irritability, increased sweating, erectile dysfunction, problems with ejaculation and pain in the genital area appear, it is necessary to seek medical help immediately, Grigoriev concluded.
