Daniil Medvedev has been denied Wimbledon, but the world number one also made an appearance on the lawn, where he traded the tennis racket for golf by clashing with former Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The Russian Medvedev will be absent from the grasscourt tournament after the organizers decided to ban the Russian and Belarus players from playing this year due to the Russian-Ukrainian war.
But while Wimbledon was suffering from a torrential downpour, Medvedev was enjoying playing in the strong sun.
“I can’t leave the grass,” the 26-year-old wrote on Instagram while getting ready to play golf in an unknown location. Great day with Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Schweinsteiger joked that he was helping Medvedev become world number one in golf.
