the former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) defended this Thursday (22.Sep.2022) the regulation of electronic media and the internet, but said that any change in legislation is up to Congress and society, not the President of the Republic. “It cannot regulate magazines and newspapers, but it can try to make the means of communication in the electronic field and on the internet able to be regulated according to the interests of society”said.
Candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, Lula defended the need to update the legislation “to the contemporary reality that we are living”.
PT said that the idea that he wants to regulate the media is the result of a national conference held in 2009, which approved a project that ended up not being sent to Congress. “The idea was created that we want to regulate”said.
