Deportivo Independiente Medellín was sanctioned with three dates of partial suspension of the plaza, south stand, and a fine of 10 million pesosdue to the bad behavior of their fans in the match of the third date of home run B against Envigado Fútbol Club, at the Polideportivo Sur stadium, last Sunday, June 5.
The Disciplinary Committee learned of the facts that led to the alleged infraction through the reports presented by the Match Referee and the Field Commissioner. Later, he learned the version of events from both the DIM and Envigado Fútbol Club.
On the part of the red team, there was no condition of visiting supporter, according to article 84 of the Single Disciplinary Code of the Colombian Football Federation, added to the fact that the Secretariat of Security and Coexistence, as well as the Local Commission of Security, Comfort and Coexistence in Soccer of the Municipality of Envigado prohibited the entry of all kinds of paraphernalia alluding to the DIM.
On the other hand, the referee of the match, Jhon Hinestroza, published in his report that there was “bad behavior by the fans of the visiting team (Independiente Medellín – Tribuna Sur) They threw objects at the Envigado players after the match and they clashed with the Police”.
The rules
The literal 2,4,5 and 6 article 84 of the CDU of the FCF say the following:
“The clubs that serve as visitors will be responsible for the improper conduct of the spectators considered as their supporters, in accordance with the degree of guilt that can be established. Spectators seated in the stands reserved for visitors are considered as supporters of the visiting club, unless proven otherwise”.
“Improper conduct is considered, particularly, acts of violence against people or things, the use of flammable objects, the throwing of objects, the display of banners with texts of an insulting nature, insulting shouts and the invasion of the pitch”.
“The improper behavior of the spectators that generates disorders before, during or after a game, in the stadium, will lead to the sanction of the club consisting of a warning or the suspension of the place from one (1) to three (3) dates. “.
“In case of suspension, the respective club will be fined eight (8) to ten (10) legal monthly minimum wages in force at the time of the infraction. If as a consequence of the previous conduct, damage is derived to the facilities or to people, The sanction will be from two (2) to four (4) dates of suspension and a fine of ten (10) to twelve (12) legal monthly minimum wages in force at the time of the infraction without prejudice to the obligation to compensate the damages caused.
That is why, through sanction 031 of 2022, the Disciplinary Committee of the Championship sanctioned the DIM with 3 sanction dates for the south stand and a fine of 10 million pesos for incurring the infraction contained in literals 2, 4, 5 and 6 of article 84 of the CDU of the FCF vs. Envigado Fútbol Club, for the third date of the semi-final home runs. Against this decision, an appeal for reconsideration proceeds before this Committee and an appeal against the Disciplinary Commission.
DIM response
Faced with this situation, Independiente Medellín issued a statement in response. “The People’s Team SA informs that after receiving the resolution of the disciplinary committee of the championship, the institution will make use of the corresponding resources and will await the response from the respective authorities,” the team specified.
In addition, “in the meantime, the sale of tickets in the south stand for the match this Sunday, June 12 against Deportes Tolima is suspended. In the event that the sanction is maintained, the institution will communicate in a timely manner where the subscribers and those who have acquired loose tickets for said locality will be relocated.
For now, next Sunday’s match against Deportes Tolima at the Atanasio Girardot stadium will be without access to the south stand.
