Papaya hit in Indycar
Nolan Siegel he will be a McLaren driver for the remaining races of 2024 and for many years to come as a result of the multi-year contract signed with Zak Brown’s team which will be valid starting from this weekend which will see the 2004 class debut at the wheel of a ‘papaya’ car in Laguna Seca.
Siegel will be replaced by the reigning F2 champion Theo Pourchaire, tenth at Detroit and 13th at Road America in the last two races held in IndyCar. The Frenchman was the profile chosen to make up for the knockout of David Malukas, a young American motor racing talent who saw his season compromised due to a wrist injury sustained during cycling training. McLaren terminated the contract it had signed with Malukas in light of the unclear recovery times for the 2001 class.
Nolan Siegel has yet to turn 20 and in 2024 his main objective was to win the title in Indy Lights but faced with the possibility of signing a multi-year contract with McLaren he obviously did not miss this opportunity. The American pilot he is the fresh winner of the 24 hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 class with the United Autosport team, a performance that definitively convinced Zak Brown and Tony Kanaan to secure the new Colton Herta/Max Verstappen of American motor racing who, who knows, could also land in F1 in the future to the delight of Liberty Media.
