Mbappé, new anti-Le Pen appeal: “Let’s not leave France to those people”
Kylian Mbappé talks about French elections again. The Real Madrid striker goes into tackle: “A victory for the right would be catastrophic, I invite all French people to go and vote, I hope that everyone will take action because we cannot let the country end up in the hands of these people”.
Mbappé’s second political appeal comes during the press conference on the eve of the Euro 2024 quarter-finals between France and Portugal, scheduled for Friday 5 July in Hamburg. “I am a citizen, first of all, not disconnected from my country and the extremists are one step away from power. I cannot remain without a voice”.
The run-off elections in France are scheduled for July 7. The first round saw the Rassemblement National (right) in the lead in opposition to President Macron’s ‘Ensemble’ party (which triggered a “desist” pact together with the left-wing New Popular Front).
