With the seal of Momo Creaciones Artísticas and a team of talented young Mazatlecos who seek to highlight the Day of the Dead festivity through art and culture, on Saturday, November 5, Mazatlán will have a Carnival of the Dead, within which will be presented a colorful show called “From Mictlán to the Carnival of the Dead”, with more than 120 artists on stage, from dance dancers, folkloric, contemporary and classical ballet.

With this show, which brings together a hotbed of talent and which promises to be the first of many more, Luis Antonio Ríos González, who for 12 years has been characterized by making a Day of the Dead different from everything that happens in the south regarding the celebrations of this Mexican tradition, is fulfilling one of his greatest dreams. The talented creator of the spectacular Catrinas that give identity to the alley of the Day of the Dead, which is celebrated in the historic center of Mazatlán, spoke in a conference with the media with more details of this great event. He pointed out that the idea of mixing the Catrina with the carnival was because he simply loves the carnival, but also the Day of the Dead, in addition to the fact that since he was a child he had had the idea of representing Mazatlán in a different way of seeing art and that in turn It will generate interest both in Mazatlecos themselves and foreigners.
Momo pointed out that Carnival of the Dead is a show made by Mazatlecos and for Mazatlecos, and if possible, for the whole world, since the El Mazatleco Folkloric Ballet, in charge of the teacher Gualberto Castro, and Scene 13, of the professor Ernesto Crespo.
The event
Happy to join this project, teacher Gualberto Castro mentioned that Carnival of the Dead is an event with which they seek to provide a cultural opportunity to Mazatlan, since it will also be a great trigger because it will set a pattern to follow, because the The intention is to continue growing as a destination that promotes the culture, traditions and preservation of Mexico, which can be shown to new generations. As for the show, he announced that they will take the public on a trip to the underworld, in which they intend to play with that magic and mysticism that characterizes the Mexican tradition of the Day of the Dead, with the arrival of the Catrina del Sur, who comes to Mazatlan and falls in love with this Pacific sea.
It is also intended that 120 artists on stage tell through folklore and body language what Mexico is and its death ritual. Meanwhile, Ernesto Crespo, from Scene 13, said that the show will be first class, with a show full of talent, rich musically speaking, with pieces that are being created especially for that day.
In addition to the entire Catrinas show, there will also be performances, pyrotechnics and a tasting of Mexican food. In the musical part will be Miguel Paredes, finalist of “La Voz Kids” and band Zarape. Likewise, part of the tickets will be used for a typical costume that is being prepared for Miss Mexico.
