Sound car from Sebastião Melo’s (MDB) campaign said that, if he won, Manuela d’Ávila (PC do B) would transform the capital of Rio Grande do Sul into Venezuela
Internet users rescued this Thursday (May 23, 2024) a video from the Sebastian Melo (MDB) for Porto Alegre City Hall in the 2020 election. At the time, a sound car from the team of the current head of the municipal Executive said that, if his opponent Manuela d’Ávila (PC do B) won, the residents of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul would eat “dog meat”.
“We are going to eat dog meat, you can be sure. Let’s take care of the animals. We are going to become Venezuela. Let’s eat real meat, guys. Vote for 15 [número eleitoral de Melo]. iPhone 11 communist. Socialism is only for other people. Vote for 15, you won’t regret it. You will eat beef steak, not dog meat”, says the sound car as it passes alongside d’Ávila supporters.
Watch (1min1s):
Sebastião Melo was elected with 54.58% of valid votes. Manuela D’Ávila received 45.42% of the votes.
After the defeat, Manuela complained in live with the deputy Guilherme Boulos (Psol-SP) – which at the time also lost the race for São Paulo City Hall to Ricardo Nunes (MDB) – from fake news that marked the election in Porto Alegre.
“Here, with the crisis, many people no longer have internet. So do you know what they did? It’s funny, but it’s sad. They circulated fake news on sound trucks. So, you have no idea what I look like when I’m riding in the car and pass a sound truck saying that, if I’m mayor, there will be legal dog meat in Porto Alegre. Imagine, the sound trucks all saying that”he said.
PROMISES ABOUT BOMBS
Another point in the campaign of the current mayor of Porto Alegre remembered by internet users in recent days is the promise to improve the capital’s anti-flooding system.
The promise was made in a post on social media on November 3, days before the municipal elections. In the post, it said that the administration of then mayor Nelson Marchezan Jr. (PSDB) “lost R$121 million destined for the renovation of houses that pump rainwater” from 2017 to 2021. It also stated that voters should vote 15 if they wanted to avoid flooding.
“If, in the last 4 years, with funds available for renovations, the city hall did not solve the problem of flooding, why would it solve it now, without the funds? It’s time to change. The city cannot continue as it is. On the 15th, vote 15. Porto Alegre has a solution”, he said.
O Power360 He contacted Mayor Sebastião Melo’s office to ask for an official position on the case, but received no response until the publication of this report. The space remains open.
