With sadness we share the announcement of the death of Matt Shell, former lead of LucasArts, known for having worked on Star Wars games for about twenty years. Matt Shell died this week: the cause of death appears to be a heart attack.
Matt Shell is credited for multiple Star Wars games and not only. Among the most recent projects we find Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Return to Monkey Island, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Star Wars: Squadrons, just to name a few high-level names. Shell worked mainly as Marketing Director, for the brand or for production depending on the project.
We do our condolences to family, friends, colleagues and everyone who knew Shell and also to all the fans who will be affected by the man's passing.

Geoff Keighley – creator and host of The Game Awards – shared the news on Twitter, where he also shared an interview with Shell 17 years ago, during the 2007 Star Wars Celebration.
Ray Almeda – Globar PR for EA Sports – shared his heartbreak over his friend's passing, writing: “Devastated by the news of the tragic passing of our friend Matt Shell. I've known Matt for about a decade, when we worked together to bring the games of STAR WARS everyone, as we traveled the world with LucasArts for 20 years will miss his jokes, the love of Sticky Toffee Pudding, the BBQ experience, the celebration of the Warriors. his deep passion for his SF Giants. Rest in Heaven my friend and may the Force be with you, always.”
Also Tony Roweprofessor of Game Design and Production and Shell's former LucasArts colleague, shared his thoughts, explaining how Shell was always ready to guide people towards knowledge and that everyone will miss him.
