Truck crash causes mass pile-up on Brenner motorway: numerous cars involved, 25 injured
The mass crash was probably caused by a truck accident around 8 a.m. At the time there was thick fog over the section of the Brenner motorway, most likely one of the reasons for the extent of the collision. Dangerous natural events are not uncommon on the Brenner Pass; as recently as November, a landslide buried the road and swept a car away.
A number of cars were badly damaged and some were upside down on the road. Firefighters freed several people who were trapped in their vehicles, the news agency wrote Ansa. According to this, around 100 cars were involved in the crash. On X (formerly Twitter), however, the state police spoke of 40 vehicles involved.
Another pile-up due to thick fog: two people die
There was also a mass collision on the A21 on Monday. Two loaded car transporters and several cars were involved. They died loudly Ansa two people and others were injured. Here too, thick fog may have been the trigger, which also made rescue work more difficult.
An accident in October on the Brenner Motorway attracted a lot of attention. A truck loaded with palm oil caught fire and paralyzed a section of the area for hours. (moe)
