The governor of the State, María Eugenia Campos Galván, proposed to the virtual president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo a tourist corridor between the states bordering Chihuahua, through the strengthening of the road infrastructure that seeks to connect the Sierra Tarahumara with the neighboring states of Sonora and Sinaloa.
These roads are part of an economic and tourist corridor that will not only benefit the surrounding states, but will also facilitate access to the sea, thus boosting the economic development of the region and, in particular, of the Sierra.
The strengthening of the border corridor was also an important topic of discussion. Governor Campos Galván presented the projects that seek to improve the infrastructure on the border, something that is also in the interest of the president-elect.
Oscar Ibanez Hernandez, the governor’s representative, commented on the meeting, noting that it represents a significant change in the way of governing, where regional collaboration is promoted instead of an individual approach.
According to Ibáñez Hernández, the meeting allowed the governor to present projects with a regional impact.
He added that they also discussed aspects related to border infrastructure, including the improvement of border crossings and associated commercial infrastructure. Among the highlighted projects are works on the Juarez highway and the Santa Teresa-San Jerónimo crossing, as well as projects related to water and energy management.
These initiatives are aimed at boosting the state’s economic development by improving connectivity and efficiency in the border region.
The meeting allowed for a detailed discussion on the need for coordination and support from the Federation to carry out these projects, given that these corridors involve several states and their impact extends nationwide.
The state official emphasized that the projects presented by the governor have a regional impact that will benefit the entire country, highlighting the importance of collaboration between different levels of government for their implementation.
It is anticipated that, once Claudia Sheinbaum officially assumes her position, she will begin working together with the state to advance the execution of these projects.
The governor promised to follow up on the working groups and agreements reached during the meeting, with the aim of ensuring that the projects move forward effectively and that the established objectives are met.
“The meeting between Campos Galván and Sheinbaum marks the beginning of a new stage in the collaboration between the state and the Federation, with a focus on projects that have a significant impact on infrastructure and regional economic development,” concluded the state official.
