Jorge Martinchampionship leader of the Pramac Racing team, participated in the press conference on Thursday of the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez de la Frontera, the fourth stage of the 2024 MotoGP world calendar. Below are his statements.
Expectations for Jerez
“Austin was a bit difficult for me, even though I saved the weekend after the crash in qualifying. I scored good points for the championship. Here I only achieved one podium in Moto2 and there will be many fans. Last year I had a good pace, but I struggled to overtake and I will work on this aspect. Winning here would be special, my father and mother used to come here before I was born to see Crivillé and Doohan.”
Improvements in 2024
“From mid-2023 onwards I have always been in the top positions and I have continued like this. I'm trying to work better and stay calm and breathe when I used to get nervous. The chatter is unpredictable, maybe in Austin we found something between Saturday and Sunday.”
MotoGP 1″ faster than in 2023
“The tires are much better, I think it's this in addition to the step forward of the bikes. In some places there is even too much grip given by the tyres. The walls here are close, but I am calm about Dorna's security work.”
Chattering trouble
“There had already been some problems in the Malaysian tests, but I thought it depended on the tyre. Then he showed up again in Qatar and Pecco hadn't had any problems and they believed it was up to me. It really depends on how you approach the race, if you start very fast you suffer a bit. We have to be very delicate and we can't push 100%. We have had these results with this problem, think what we can do without it. The bike has exceptional potential. However, if the chattering is present from the beginning it is very difficult to manage.”
