GP23 roast
The Indonesian trip ends in a rather ‘hot’ way Marc Marquez. In fact, the Gresini centaur, after third place in yesterday’s Sprint, did not see the checkered flag today in Mandalika due to the engine failure of his Desmosedici GP23. A technical knockout that was also dangerous, given that Marquez’s bike caught fire and the intervention of fire extinguishers was necessary to stop the roasting of Ducati that was taking place at that moment.
The retirement, the first in a Sunday race since the crash in Austin, deprived Marquez of one possible battle for the podium. Interviewed at Sky Sports MotoGP in fact it was the Cervera champion himself who explained what it was like impossible to think of catching up with the two fugitives Martin and Acosta.
Missed fight for the podium
“The two of them were very far away – explained #93 – However, I could try to stay with Morbidelli and Bezzecchi. When my engine broke I was starting to catch up with that group. It happens, these are races and sometimes there are mechanical problems. With Ducati and Gresini we win together and lose togethernext week we will already have another race“.
“Problems at the start of the race? The engine was fine, but I lost 2-3 seconds in the fight with Di Giannantonio – commented Marquez again – We lost a lot of time there, but when I had a clear track I caught up with the Bagnaia group. The pace was there, the speed too. We must continue to work like this in the next races. I then have to understand the problems I have in qualifying. I struggle more with them. In Indonesia I have never finished a GP yet, but I hope to get a podium next year.”he concluded.
