The Ministry of the Interior, with Fernando Grande-Marlaska at the head, decorated Víctor de Aldama in 2022alleged ‘achiever’ and “corrupting link” between the ‘Koldo case’ and a hydrocarbon plot, with a medal of merit of the Civil Guard with a white badge that he is now considering withdrawing.
According to official sources from the Ministry of the Interior, The intention is to withdraw this honorary decoration “as soon as possible” which is delivered annually to people outside the Civil Guard, as is also the case with the National Police.
These sources point out that, despite the Interior’s intention to withdraw the medal, it is possible that this cannot be made effective until it exists a firm condemnationas long as Aldama ends up being prosecuted and convicted.
Statement at the National Court
It has been the Unified Association of Civil Guards (AUGC) which this Friday requested the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, to withdraw the medal that he awarded to Aldama in 2022.
In a press release, AUGC has denounced the awarding of medals to people “questioned for their involvement in criminal acts” and has requested the “immediate withdrawal of the distinction.”
AUGC has made this request one day after Víctor de Aldama’s statement at the National Court in which he directed different accusations against the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and other ministers and officials of the PSOE. He also said that he had been a collaborator of the Civil Guard.
“We have formally requested the Minister of the Interior to proceed with the annulment of the Order of Merit of the Civil Guardcategory with a white badge, granted to Víctor Gonzalo de Aldama Delgado,” says the AUGC 24 hours after the statement in court and his release.
The association has described as “unacceptable that decorations be awarded to people whose career may contradict the principles of ethics, honesty and commitment that govern our institution”.
