Marina Berlusconi, back and forth with Repubblica on the memory of her father
Back and forth between Repubblica and Marina Berlusconi on the political legacy of Silvio Berlusconi, her father. It all starts from the article “Beato Silvio”, written by Massimo Giannini and published yesterday on Friday. In his comment, Giannini wrote that one year after the death of the Knight, «we only remember thoughts and words that make him a prophet halfway between Jesus Christ and Saint Francis», instead forgetting some well-known and other never clarified events in its entrepreneurial and political history, which have inflamed the public debate, both Italian and international, for thirty years.
Giannini then listed a series of issues, from the groom Mangano to conflicts of interest and ad personam laws, up to Putin's bed and Gaddafi's tent. Marina Berlusconi decided to respond with a letter addressed to the management of Repubblica in which she writes that Giannini, «as is typical of obsessive thinking», expresses opinions «without anything new, but only with ua mechanical repetition of things already said and said again, completely disconnected from the reality of the facts.”
Marina writes that regarding Mangano and the mafia, «not even a word about the fact that thirty years of investigations into my father have all ended in nothing, all archived at the request of the same prosecutors who had opened them». On the conflict of interest, “without mentioning that my father abandoned all his corporate roles the same day he took the field.” On the former prime minister's friendship with the Russian leader, “without remembering that that bond had as its objective the enlargement of the West and democracy”. And on the dictator of Libya, who is also on excellent terms with Berlusconi, “not even a word on the Benghazi Agreement, which was unprecedented in the history of our country's relations with Africa”. Giannini counterresponds by describing Marina Berlusconi as “suffering from a very selective memory”. Berlusconi never stops causing discussion, even after his death.
