The all-out offensive of the PP to try to boycott Teresa Ribera’s career in the European Commission has put an end to the Government’s strategy of maintaining a low profile in criticizing Carlos Mazón for the management of DANA. In the plenary session this Wednesday, and after almost a dozen interventions by PP deputies, the first vice president responded to a question from the popular Juan Bravo to point out the president of the Generalitat as no one from the Executive had ever done before.
“This is not about a political story, it is not about the first person to throw the stone. This is going to resolve political responsibilities and listen to me: judicial responsibilities. They will have to appear at the time at the Valencian Generalitat and explain where each one was, which they have not yet explained,” said María Jesús Montero.
The head of the Treasury has also announced that her party will contribute to parliamentary investigation commissions that, for now, the Valencian socialists have stopped. “Let the citizens know that there will be investigative commissions because the victims have the right to know with transparency what each person’s responsibility is. This has been so serious that it cannot be a battle for the PP’s story, that is political indecency,” he maintained.
Montero has gone one step further and has even gone so far as to demand that Feijóo remove Mazón from his responsibilities. “They think the people are stupid. But all Valencians know clearly who is responsible for this tragedy. And they know it in their party. What happens is that they do not want or do not have the strength to make Mr. Mazón take a step back. As long as that does not happen, you will be complicit in a negligence that has cost the lives of many people,” he cried.
The vice president has asked the popular people not to mock the victims. “This has been very serious. The delay in making decisions and sending the alarm has had very serious consequences. It will not be of any use to the PP to continue trying to blame scientific organizations and experts such as the AEMET or the Hydrographic Confederation,” he warned.
María Jesús Montero’s team has subsequently qualified the vice president’s words regarding the promotion of investigative commissions, recalling that, in any case, they always depend on the initiative of the parliamentary groups and not the Government.
