The former general director of Emergencies begins to ask for guarantees in order to dispute Fernando López Miras for leadership
Manuel Durán, who was the general director of Emergencies of the Community, confirmed this Friday his intention to present his candidacy for the presidency of the PP of the Region of Murcia in the extraordinary congress that will be held on July 15.
Durán, who was also a councilor in the Murcia City Council and general secretary of the Federation of Municipalities, has released a WhatsApp message to his party colleagues in which he states that “after a deep stage of reflection”, he has taken “the decision to present myself as a candidate in the 18th Autonomous Congress». He attaches the sheet for collecting endorsements, in order to collect the 90 signatures he needs to formalize his candidacy.
“In the next few days I will inform you of the ideas and the regeneration and change program with which we intend to recover the leading and winning project that returns the pride of being and voting for the Popular Party,” reads the message, spread by WhatsApp groups of pedáneos of the PP in Murcia (he directs the organization in Lobosillo) and in which it was created for the electoral campaign of José Ballesta in the 2019 elections.
Durán has been separated from the regional Administration in September 2019. He went to the private company, working as Business Director at the firm Offshore Special Service. This company won an emergency contract from the Ministry of Health worth 1.6 million euros, intended for the management of the free telephone number (900 12 12 12) that the Community set up in March 2020 in order to resolve the doubts that Murcians could have about Covid-19 and avoid the collapse of the Single Emergency Telephone (112).
