The manager raped on the Navigli has been fired. The company: “It is not efficient.” 5 thousand euro severance pay
A 32-year-old manager from Turin, victim of a gang rape in a club on the Navigli in Milan in March 2023, was fired from the company with registered office in the Netherlands for which she worked in Assago, on the border with the capital, who, after initially expressing solidarity with her, then considered that “she was no longer efficient” and offered her 5,000 euros in severance pay. This is what is reported in an article ‘La Stampa’. After a party the woman “was raped for a whole night by three boys who she considered her friends. Everyone, including her, had drunk too much”. The alleged perpetrators of the violence were identified and arrested by the police. The victim was treated in hospital.
“The colleagues and managers of the company for which she had been working for three years, specializing in the trade of luxury brands, rallied around her: ‘You have all our support, don’t give up.’ After six months of mutual assistance punctuated by hospitalizations – we read in the article -, by endless sessions with psychologists and psychiatrists, with family members who feared she would commit suicide, the girl tried to return to work in September. She couldn’t take it, she still needed treatment. She alternated moments of optimism with others of profound sadness”. Last March 11, however, the company gave her the letter of dismissal “for justified reason”. “With a view to greater efficiency – we read – we have decided to reorganize our activities, eliminating the ‘Service Merchandiser’ position currently held by you and redistributing your current duties among other employees currently employed by us”. The worker appealed against the dismissal. Last January 16th, the hearing, before the Milan Gup, against the three young people, aged between 23 and 27, accused for gang sexual violence.
