Mexico City.– Among Maná’s most recent concerts in Mexico, including their presentation at Foro Sol in 2022 and their time at the Vive Latino and Pal’ Norte festivals this year, they left a good taste in the mouth due to the group’s dedication.
The idea is to close this almost two-year tour at home. In Mexico everyone knows the story of Maná, so it will be very interesting to be able to play with the song list with an amazing production. There is nothing like celebrating in Mexico
But the band points out, in an interview, that it was just a taste of what they want to offer the country with their large-format tour México Lindo y Querido Tour, with which they will give 12 shows in several cities in their country.
“We are Mexicans, we continue living in Mexico, we love our country and we show the flag everywhere. Now we are coming with all the meat on the grill, it is a bigger tour that will complete the production that is seen in Los Angeles or Miami,” said Fher Olvera, the group’s vocalist, from Spain.
The performers of “Oye Mi Amor” and “Rayando el Sol” have always been proud of their nationality, and their current plans demonstrate it, as they are preparing an album of duets with a very Mexican sound, titled Noches de Cantina, which will be the successor from Burning Bed (2015).
Their album is 95 percent ready and has collaborations already released that left them delighted, such as “Te Lloré Todo un Río”, with Christian Nodal.
In recent years the band has also shared collaborations with Alejandro Fernández, Sebastián Yatra and Pablo Alborán, which they value because they allow them to renew themselves.
“It’s nice to experiment, to sound in other ways. I know that sometimes people fall in love with a version, but you also have to give the music a chance to flow. I believe in something from an Indian that I just read: artists We should not stay in the comfort zone.
“I prefer to make mistakes and experiment than to remain wanting and say: ‘What if I had done it?’. In art that’s how it is, you can’t stay still, you have to be rebelling against yourself, your fears, your ego. If in the end you like it and it feels good, you have already taken the first big step,” said Fher.
At the same time, the quartet completed by Alejandro González, Sergio Vallín and Juan Calleros also works on new songs; The singer considers himself less fatalistic in love, so he believes that they will be closer to “Eres mi Religión” and “Blessed Your Light” than to “Mariposa Treicionera.”
For almost 30 years, Maná has been dedicated to social causes with their Selva Negra Foundation, with which they have supported the preservation of animals and will now offer money to indigenous communities, but they believe that their grain of sand is also in inspiring new generations.
“There are almost no bands anymore, they are all singers, and many of the artists are not composers. We suddenly feel a little alone, it is not like the movement that existed in the 80s and 90s.
“But Sergio has a music school, it seems fundamental to me. That a kid is playing his lyre, composing with his keyboard, playing the drums, because it invites his brain to think in a different way. Art is the most sublime thing that a human being can aspire to, for me it is the part that brings you closest to God, and I believe that my friends have inspired many,” Fher considered.
The group is also proud to see that their songs have transcended and they have enjoyed reading people on the Internet who theorize about the meaning of the lyrics of “El Reloj Cucú” without mentioning them.
“That means that the work is bigger than us. In the end it doesn’t matter if these four guys are older or younger or they can’t stop us anymore, the work goes higher, that’s what matters,” concluded the vocalist.
His tour, which has already started in Spain, will have three concerts at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, October 10, 11 and 13, while in November one at the Arena Monterrey, on the 17th, and another in Jalisco, in the Tres de Marzo Stadium, on the 29th (tickets go on sale June 19).
