The Malaysian Meteorological Authority issued a warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in 8 Malaysian states. In addition to all of the states of Perlis and Melaka, the authority announced in a Facebook post that the weather warnings also include Kelantan, specifically in the areas of Gili, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang, as well as in Bentong and Temerloh in Pahang, according to the Malaysian newspaper New Straits Times today.
The Meteorological Authority said, “The warning is issued when there are signs indicating the occurrence of thunderstorms with rain exceeding 20 millimeters per hour, which is expected to last for an hour or more.” The statement added, “A thunderstorm warning is a warning for a short period and lasts for a period not exceeding six hours each time.”
