The Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, celebrated this Wednesday, May 22, the recognition of the Palestinian State by Spain, Ireland and Norwaya decision that will be formalized on May 28.
The decision contributes to the “enshrinement of the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination in their land and to take real measures to support the implementation of the two-state solution”indicated a statement from the Presidency of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).

Ireland and Norway praised that both countries have “strongly supported the rights of the Palestinian people in recent years and voted in favor of these rights in international forums.”
We urge all countries in the world, especially European countries, to recognize the State of Palestine in accordance with the internationally recognized two-state solution

For now, nine European countries recognize the Palestinian state: Bulgaria, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Cyprus, Malta and Sweden; as well as almost all Arab countries or those historically linked to the non-aligned movement.
Israel reacted immediately by calling its ambassadors in Ireland and Norway for consultations.who made the announcement first, and warned Spain to take similar measures if it took the same step.
“Ireland and Norway intend to send a message to Palestinians and the entire world today: terrorism is worth it“said Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz, who considered that the recognition of Palestine is equivalent to “rewarding Hamas.”
