The rollout of the free version of Magic Editor it’s already reaching a broader audience, starting with users of Samsung Galaxy devices and older Pixel models.
The Magic Editor is a tool integrated into the Google Photos app and brings powerful ones editing skills thanks to the power ofgenerative artificial intelligence.
The Magic Editor is rolling out widely to older Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices, though this feature debuted with the series Google Pixel 8 in the’October 2023but this April, the company he confirmed which would be available soon to all Google Photos users.
The rollout for previous generation Pixel devices began in mid-May, but has been staggered, and now, the company is expanding the rollout not only to more Pixel models, but also to Samsung devices.
How it works and how to use Magic Editor
Once available on your device, you can access the Magic Editor after opening an image in the app Google Photostouching “Edit” and then on the purple icon located in the area lower left of the user interface (above the “Cancel” button).
The feature uses generative AI to edit elements in an image (change their position, size, etc.), remove them and fill in missing areas, then there are also extra possibilities like sky editing and more .
It is worth noting that there are usage limitations for the non-Pixel devicesfor example, on your Samsung phone, you can only save up to 10 changes per monthhowever you can remove this limitation if you pay for a Google One planon the other hand, users of Pixel devices they can enjoy unlimited changes.
Magic Eraser and other editing options now free for everyone
While both are AI-powered features, Magic Editor and Magic Eraser are two different tools. As the name suggests, Magic Eraser is focused on removing elements from an image, on the other hand Magic Editor can do this too, but adds many more possibilities.
Magic Eraser was one of those options locked behind a paywall, requiring you to purchase a Google One plan to use it, this option is now available for free, and not just for Pixel and Samsung users.
Currently, Magic Eraser is free on the Nothing Phone, along with other options that were previously paid, these include sky tips, Color pop, Color focus and HDR effect, among others, however Magic Editor is not yet available on the device.
The upside of Magic Eraser is that it has no usage limits even for free users, so it’s great to have it available without the need for a paid Google One plan.
