The Community of Madrid presented its digital transformation model yesterday afternoon at the University of Cambridge, consolidated as an international benchmark in technological innovation applied to public services.
The Minister of Digitalization of the Community of Madrid, Miguel López-Valverde, gave a conference to experts in this area and former postgraduate students of the British university, highlighting some of the “pioneer projects launched in the region that have changed the relationship of the Administration with the citizen, such as the Virtual Health Card (TSV) or Digital Account,” reports Servimedia.
The presentation took place during the ‘From Science to Society’ conference organized by the Science Club of the Rafael del Pino Foundation, where López-Valverde was also able to dialogue and share experiences with young Spanish scientists.
In his speech, the counselor highlighted the position of the region as a European technological node and its pioneering role in Spain as the only autonomy with a specific department dedicated to digitalization policies. “We work on three fundamental pillars: a more efficient Administration with the use of technology; “a society formed in which the digital divide is reduced to a minimum, both in urban and rural environments, and an economy based on innovation to generate employment and attract talent and opportunities.”
In this sense, the Community of Madrid “is committed to digitalization in all its areas, our main objective being to offer citizens better, more modern, personalized and effective public services, in addition to doing so proactively, that is, being able to anticipate the needs of the people of Madrid,” he said.
The counselor highlighted some of the measures implemented since the beginning of the legislature, such as the Digital Account platform, which brings together more than 100 administrative services in a single space; the continuous improvement of the TSV, turning it into one of the most complete health applications worldwide, or the launch of a Technological Employment Shock Plan to cover the more than 40,000 jobs demanded by companies in the sector.
