Madrid not only gains space for pedestrians within the M-30. The Madrid City Council, through the Works and Equipment area, is going to begin work this week to consolidate the pedestrianization of Misterios Street, in Linear City. The intervention, a neighborhood petition registered in Madrid Decide, will condition Misterios Street in the entire section between Juan Pérez de Zúñiga and José del Hierro streets. In addition, the project contemplates the reorganization of Marqués de Pico Velasco Street, perpendicular to Misterios Street, between Misterios and Arturo Soria.
The objective of this project, which has a budget of 1.3 million euros and will extend until the second half of 2025, will improve the accessibility and safety of the work environment. the Santa María del Carmen and Stella Maris schools. The works will include the construction of overpasses at the intersections of Misterios Street with its transversals, in addition to the renewal of pavements, rearrangement of intersections, execution of new pedestrian crossings and removal of architectural barriers, among others.
On Marqués de Pico Velasco Street (between Misterios and Arturo Soria), to solve the lack of accessibility on the north sidewalk, Parking spaces will be placed in line instead of in seriesand doing the opposite on the opposite sidewalk. In addition, both walks will be repaved and two new pedestrian crossings will be created. Finally, 41 new trees (flowering pear trees, red maples and strawberry trees) and more than 1,500 shrubs will be planted. Likewise, the existing public lighting will be changed for another type of highly energy efficient ‘LED’ and the street furniture will be renewed.

Currently, the city council has also restricted the passage of vehicles on the street Laguna (Carabanchel), Recoletos and Cid streets (Salamanca), various routes of the itinerary between Plaza del Hidrogen and Madrid Río (Usera), the surroundings of the Numancia Market (Puente de Vallecas), the old tunnel on the Pozo del Tío Raimundo road (Villa de Vallecas) and Murcia street between Méndez Álvaro and Rafael de Riego (Arganzuela). These renovations cover more than 12,000 square meters and will involve the planting of 160 new trees.
