The 24, 25, 26 June will arrive in Italian cinemas (list soon on nexodigital.it) in restored version in 4K LUPINE III – THE STONE OF WISDOM by Sôji Yoshikawa, first anime made with the “Animevision” technique, a widescreen format that marked the beginning of a new era for animation.
Released in Japan in 1978 and written by Monkey Punch, Atsushi Yamatoya and Sôji Yoshikawa, the film returns to the cinema with the historic dubbing with which it was presented in Italian cinemas in 1979 and with the legendary original theme song Planet O written by Norbert Cohen and composed by Farouk Safi and Sharon Woods, sung in English by Daisy Daze and the Bumble Bees. Used as the opening and closing theme before 1987, Planet O presents a science fiction text not inherent to the series, but presumably inspired by the erotic novel History of O. Since 2004 it has been used as the closing theme during the broadcast of the series with the first dubbing.
The plot of LUPINE III – THE STONE OF WISDOM kicks off with Inspector Zenigata being informed that his arch-enemy Lupine III has been executed. Meanwhile, Lupine also hears the news. So, when they both go to Transylvania to investigate, they realize that the deceased is a perfect lookalike of the famous thief. The story then moves to Egypt where Lupine III steals a mysterious stone, called the Stone of the Wise, from a pharaoh’s pyramid, taking it with him to Japan…
On the occasion of the cinema release, from 18 to 29 June the YAMATO SHOP in via Tadino 5, in Milan, will propose the exclusivity Pop-Up Memorablia Exhibition, with original Props and products related to the film.
The new Season Anime at the Cinema is an exclusive project by Nexo Digital distributed in collaboration with Yamato Video and with media partners Radio Deejay, MYmovies.it, Lucca Comics&Games and ANIME GENERATION.
