PTista resumes international trips with visits to African countries; this Thursday (Feb 15), he will head to Ethiopia
The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was received this Thursday morning (15.Feb.2024) by the President of Egypt, Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, at the Presidential Palace of Heliópolis, in Cairo, the country's capital.
Afterwards, the heads of state meet to discuss topics such as the war between Israel and Hamas, trade, investments and technical cooperation.

The PT member's delegation arrived in Cairo on Wednesday morning (Feb 14). With no official commitments on the agenda, Lula and First Lady Rosângela Lula da Silva, known as Janja, visited the pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum. The tour was provided by the country's government and accompanied by Khaled El-Enany, former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt.
A ceremony is scheduled for 12:30 pm local time (7:30 am in Brasília) to celebrate the signing of agreements between the countries. The content has not yet been released.
In the afternoon, after lunch with El-Sisi, Lula will meet with the secretary general of League of Arab StatesAhmed Aboul Gheit, and will participate in an extraordinary session of the Council of Representatives of the group made up of 22 countries.
Also this Thursday (Feb 15), Lula will travel to Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The PT member must stay in the country until Sunday (Feb 18), where he will participate in the 37th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
