Lukaku: “The best goal against Roma? In the 91st minute against Lecce”
Romelu Lukaku talks about his emotions in this Giallorossi season. The former Inter striker, (almost) at the end of his season with the Roma shirt – one game missing, dreaming of the Champions League pass, but it depends on Atalanta in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen – on the warmth that the Olympic stadium transmits and the passion of the wolfish fans for their favorite team says aa Betsson.Sport. “I have always been impressed by the Olympic stadium, when we enter the pitch to warm up we already feel the support of the fans and this gives you an extra incentive to do better,” explains Big Rom. “You know that the team is important for the people of this city and as a footballer you represent the entire city, it’s a very nice experience.”
Lukaku then describes his first goal against Anderlecht as a turning point, which totally changed his life. “The beginning for me always remains the most beautiful” says the footballer describing his debut in the world of football. “I represented my city, and we won the championship the first year.” But the Giallorossi striker is not only linked to his hometown, he has established a deep, almost tangible connection with Roma, with his teammates and with his supporters.
The harmony he has with the team is in fact evident not only on the field, but also off it, where moments of complicity and jokes strengthen the bonds and cohesion of the group: “I feel really good with the whole team: Pellegrini, Dybala, Paredes, Aouar and N’Dicka.”
On the Roma shirt, the number 9 has engraved his signature with unforgettable goals. “The memorable goal with the Roma shirt was the one against Lecce 2-1” shared Lukaku. “Great ball from Paulo Dybala and then my goal.” During that match, the team was losing 1-0 and, after a goal from Azmoun with which they reached the equalizer, Lukaku scored the winning goal in added time.
Lukaku: “The most difficult defender to face? Giorgio Chiellini”
As a youngster, Lukaku admired big names like Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka; when it comes to challenges on the pitch however, the defender who has left an indelible mark is Giorgio Chiellini. “Chiellini is the strongest defender he has ever faced,” said Lukaku.
Lukaku, Giallorossi heart: “Dajé Roma”
Beyond the challenges on the pitch, Lukaku deeply appreciates the warmth and support of the Roma fans. “Roma fans are special, it’s very nice to experience their support,” she underlined. Finally, with words that reflect his love for the shirt and the city, the Belgian player wanted to send a message in Roman dialect to the Roma fans: “Bella regà, come on Rome, come on!”
