The debut of the first 100% electric SUV branded Lotus is expected in 2022: it will be called Type 132, and has recently been anticipated by some teaser videos that have hinted at some details of the model. Starting with the LiDAR unit, which will be part of a set of sensors and cameras that will ensure semi-autonomous driving available to the driver. The LiDAR sensor it will be positioned on the roof, just above the windshield.
Another element on which the work of Lotus has focused is that of active aerodynamics: in fact, you can see the presence of a rear wing that can stretch outwards and upwards. The next Lotus battery-powered crossover will also be characterized by an active front grille, equipped with adjustable shutters that can be opened or closed with a dual purpose: to cool the powertrain, and improve aerodynamics. The details related to the powertrain remain unknown: the only certainty is that the new Type 132 will share the same architecture of many other electric vehicles that the British brand will soon debut, including an E-segment four-door coupe currently known as the Type 133, a D-segment SUV dubbed the Type 134 and a Type 135 electric sports car to be launched in 2026. All these models, including the Type 132 electric SUV, will therefore boast 800 Volt technology and will have battery packs with capacities from 92 to 120 kWh.
