Marquez, the season of truth in Ducati
For four seasons, Marc Marquez he wandered around the infirmary and the track, in a mood somewhere between sad and furious. This is a logical consequence of the Jerez de la Frontera accident in 2020, the subsequent operations on his right arm and Honda's technical crisis. Now these difficulties should be overcome, because in 2023 the Spaniard has finally found peace with his operated arm (he missed three weekends, but due to a different accident) and above all he has said goodbye to the Japanese.
His move to Ducati was the topic of the end of 2023, and in the winter the wait to see the Cabroncito riding the GP23 of the Gresini team against other riders has skyrocketed. However, in the first tests the Spaniard showed that he still had a lot of work to do: it couldn't have been otherwise, even for someone who has won everything. Other world champions have also suffered on the Borgo Panigale bike, including Jorge Lorenzo who indicated Marquez's three limitations in 2024.
Lorenzo's words
“Marc's debut with Ducati in Valencia was quite impressive. Everyone thought that Márquez would win every race this year, but I don't think that will be the case, as we saw in Sepang, where he had some difficulties. Marc is riding a bit as if he were still with Honda“, commented the three-time MotoGP world champion.
“We also need to know how much Ducati has improved over the winter. Jorge Martin and 'Pecco' Bagnaia are not poor drivers. They are very fast and explosive, and if they have a better bike than Marc, who doesn't have much experience with the Ducati, this could be very important“, he added. “Is his arm completely recovered or does he still need time to reach his maximum level? Will it be the same as before on a physical level? Only he and his entourage know this“.
