In his institutional message on the occasion of the New Year, López Miras highlights the value of unity
The President of the Government of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, expressed his confidence this Saturday that 2023 will be a year “of unity and great consensus”, for which he invited “to move forward together from harmony and moderation” because «together we are better and stronger».
During his institutional message from the Palacio de San Esteban on the occasion of the New Year, López Miras especially highlighted the value of unity, and expressed his wish that in 2023 “we will all go in the same direction, without hesitation or sterile divisions”, so that so that “we all work for and for the Region of Murcia”. “We have shown that we are capable of facing the most adverse situations, such as the pandemic, and, if we are together, we will overcome any challenge”, thanks to the fact that “the push of the million and a half inhabitants of this earth is unstoppable”, he said.
In this sense, he recalled that «the citizens of the Region of Murcia prefer dialogue to noise; evidence to stridency, and realism to extremism. This social majority, he added, “wants strong democratic institutions that guarantee the rule of law and, as the King recently stated, we are concerned about those behaviors that erode our constitutional model of coexistence.”
As the year in which the 40th anniversary of the Statute of Autonomy of the Region of Murcia was closed, López Miras asked to follow precisely the example of agreement demonstrated by the ‘fathers’ of this regional standard. Thus, he advocated “limit disputes and seek convergences” as well as “respect those who think differently. We are closer to each other, even if it is not fashionable to say it », he emphasized.
Regarding the effects that inflation and economic instability are bringing, especially in certain groups, the president stated that he was “very aware” of the “uncertainties” that many citizens feel, although he was “convinced” that the new year It will bring young people “a better present and more certainty” and families “the support and opportunities they need.”

López Miras thanked “those who are at the foot of the canyon on these very special dates, guaranteeing the safety and well-being of all, even if that means giving up being with their loved ones.” Thus, he directed the recognition of him to health professionals; police officers, civil guards and firefighters; armed forces, “and those from the hotel and entertainment industry do everything possible to serve and entertain us.”

In the message of the president of the Community there was also gratitude to “the people who make Christmas in the Region of Murcia the Christmas that we all love and remember”, and he encouraged “following our traditions” because doing so “is giving something to the next generation”. “The Region of Murcia has a lot to be proud of,” he explained.
Finally, López Miras wished all the citizens of the Region of Murcia “a magnificent 2023, which, I am convinced, with everyone’s effort and unity, will bring us what we need most. Best wishes for the New Year that is about to begin.”
