Lone sailor lost at sea between Greece and Italy for 10 days
A Spaniard, who had undertaken a solo navigation from the island of Crete to Sicily and of whom there had been no news for 10 days, was rescued by the Coast Guard about 200 kilometers from the Italian coast.
The man left on April 11th on board a 12-metre sailing vessel, but his traces were soon lost. After receiving information from the Piraeus rescue center and acquiring a satellite signal indicating the possible presence of the unit 110 miles from Cape Spartivento, the Coast Guard took action to rescue the lone navigator.
