Last February, sony revealed that it planned to lay off 900 employees, or about 8% of its workforce. Amid all the chaos, it was revealed that London Studio, a team that had worked on PlayStation games for more than 20 years, would close its doors at the end of May. Well, the day has finally arrived.
Through an official statement on his Twitter account, London Studio shared a final goodbye and thanked all those who supported them since their creation in 2002 for their support. This is what they commented about it:
“For over twenty years, London Studio has been home to wonderful and exceptionally talented people in the games industry. As we close the doors and all move on to new adventures, we wanted to wholeheartedly thank all of our players and colleagues past and present who have supported us over the years. We’ve had a wild and wonderful ride!”

London Studio opened its doors in 2002, based in Soho, London. Over the years, the team worked on series such as The Getaway, and was responsible for the SingStar franchise, which sold over 20 million units across dozens of releases for PS2 and PS3. He also developed multiple titles for the PlayStation EyeToy camera, Wonderbook, and PlayStation VR.
The studio’s latest project was an online cooperative combat game set in a fantasy London. At the moment it is unknown what has happened to the employees, but we hope they find a new home quickly. On related topics, it looks like a new Astro Bot is on the way. In the same way, we tell you if it is worth it Ghost of Tsushima on PC or not.
Author’s Note:
It’s a real shame that a talented team like London Studio is closing its doors, and dozens of people are losing their jobs. It’s a brutal industry and sadly it looks like they’re not the last.
