Yoshimi YasudaCEO of Dragami Games and manufacturer of the original Lollipop Chainsawconfirmed that the remake project is in development with an expected launch in 2023. The platforms have yet to be revealed, although we will likely see it appear on PlayStation, Xbox and probably Nintendo Switch as well.
The studio hasn’t shared any footage from the Lollipop Chainsaw remake, though it does promise visual improvements for the title. Additionally, it has been confirmed that the staff who worked on the original will be returning to help bring the game to new audiences. Released in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Yasuda points out how difficult it is to access the game on modern systems, this being part of his motivation to bring Lollipop Chainsaw back to life.
Lollipop Chainsaw sees players take on the role of cheerleader Juliet Starling, who finds herself in a zombie apocalypse on her 18th birthday. In the game, Juliet uses a chainsaw to kill the zombies that stand in her way.
For now, we just have to wait to see how the remake that should come out next year is developed.
