The great work carried out by the Blanca Foundation has been one of the winners in the 20 Minute Awards. Its president, Lola Fernández Ochoa, collected this recognition from the Teatro Real this Tuesday, a distinction with which he wanted to remember his sisterthe athlete Blanca Fernandez Ochoawho names an organization that he wanted to recognize for its work focused on make “mental health” problems visible in society.
“You have to ask for forgiveness. In front of all of you, I apologize to my sister Blanca. She was ashamed to admit her problem,” he stated after receiving the award from the Minister of Inclusion, Elma Sainz, the CEO of Iberdrola, Mario Ruiz-Tagle and Fernando de Yarz, president of Henneo. “I dedicate this award to her,” has highlighted, ensuring that there are several important “magic words” in the fight for mental health and among them, precisely, was that forgiveness: “We have not been brave when it comes to asking for forgiveness.”
The institution dedicates itself daily to raise awareness, support and guide athletes against disorders that could arise in high competition and during their professional career. “I collect this award, but it belongs to a wonderful team that is out there. We are small, but we are already a big family,” He stated, fondly remembering all those who are part of the Blanca Foundation: “My siblings are growing with great zeal, because I am going to adopt them all.”
Fernández Ochoa has also highlighted the fundamental work of the word ‘please’, as a driver of awareness and care for society: “We have to become aware of the importance of taking care of mental health. “To raise awareness that we must make visible the importance of asking for help,” has indicated.
And, for this reason, he has also highlighted the importance of continuing with the awareness-raising work from the major media: “We must ask you to continue with your words, your letters, encouraging society to be fundamental.”
The Blanca Foundation carries out activities and programs such as idea laboratories, the Mental Health and Sports Tour – which tours Spanish cities showing the documentary The Journey. The mental health medal and holding a subsequent colloquium, the School of sports commentators, forums, conferences and even sporting events of different disciplines. Furthermore, among its lines of action there is study and research, psychological support, disseminationpromoting employability, advice and training.
