The Senate installs this Tuesday (May 7, 2024) the Temporary External Commission of Rio Grande do Sul. The collegiate will be responsible for proposing measures and monitoring the development of solutions to the crisis caused by flooding in the State.
The commission will be made up of 8 senators. The 3 representatives of Rio Grande do Sul in Casa Alta have already been confirmed as members of the board: Paulo Paim (PT), Hamilton Mourão (Republicans) and Ireneu Orth (PP) – substitute for Luis Carlos Heinze (PP), temporarily removed.

RAINS IN RS
The number of deaths from the rains in Rio Grande do Sul rose to 90, according to a bulletin released at 9:30 am this Tuesday (May 7, 2024) by Civil defense of State. Storms have hit municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul since April 28th.
The storm affected 388 of the 497 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul. According to Civil Defense, the State has:
- affected municipalities: 388;
- people in shelters: 48,147;
- homeless: 155,741;
- affected: 1,367,506;
- injured: 361;
- missing: 132.
The Guaíba river, the main river in Porto Alegre, reached the level of 5.27 meters this Tuesday morning (May 7). Here is the level of other rivers in the State:
- Taquari River, in Muçum (RS) – 7.44 meters;
- Rio Caí, in Feliz (RS) – 3.51 meters;
- Uruguay River, in Uruguaiana (RS) – 9.71 meters.
