Almost six months after the outbreak of the conflict, the ongoing war in Gaza shows no sign of stopping: since 7 October at least 32,623 Palestinians have been killed and more than 75 thousand have been injured during military operations conducted by Israel in the Strip. And on Monday 1 April talks could be held in Washington between Israel and the US on the planned incursion into Rafah. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden said that Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries are “ready to fully recognize Israel”.

9.00 am – US media: “Israel proposes Arab multinational security force in Gaza” – During his visit to Washington in recent days, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant raised the possibility of establishing a multinational military force in the Gaza Strip with troops from Arab countries to escort humanitarian aid convoys. The US online newspaper Axios writes this, quoting two senior Israeli officials. “Such a move will build a governing body in the enclave that is not Hamas and address Israel's growing problem with the United States regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza,” one of the two officials quoted by the American site said.

08.30 am – Air attacks on the refugee camps of Nuseirat and Maghazi – During the night between Friday and Saturday, Israel conducted massive air strikes in central and northern Gaza, causing further displacement and civilian casualties. The Arab broadcaster reports it Al Jazeera. In central Gaza, residential buildings were targeted and destroyed in both Nuseirat and Maghazi refugee camps. There were also attacks in Deir el-Balah, an area where people were initially told it was safe to travel. Meanwhile, Israeli forces are continuing operations in and around al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, where they say they have killed more Palestinian fighters over the past day. According to the Wafa news agency, the latest series of Israeli attacks in Gaza have also killed and injured dozens of civilians, including women and children, mostly in the Shujayea neighborhood of Gaza City.

08.00 am – Israeli raids in the West Bank: a 13 year old killed – According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, at dawn this morning Israeli forces stormed the city of Tubas, in the north of the occupied West Bank. The agency had previously reported raids in the cities of Qalqilya and Jenin: a 13-year-old Palestinian child also lost his life in the attacks.

07.30 am – CNN: perhaps talks in Washington on Rafah on Monday – US broadcaster CNN, citing US officials, reports that Israel has proposed holding talks in Washington on Monday to discuss the planned raid on Rafah, which the White House has expressed strong opposition to. A meeting was originally scheduled for earlier this week but the Jewish state canceled it. US officials told CNN that the date for the talks with the Jewish state delegation has not yet been defined.
