Literature Nick Cave wrote and illustrated a children’s book for his 3-year-old neighbor

Musician-author Nick Cave has written and illustrated a children’s book, says NME. Cave has done The Little Thing to his 3-year-old neighbor Esmelle.

Aimed at 3-5 year olds, the book is “a story about a little creature who embarks on an epic adventure to find the true nature of his own self,” Cave describes.

“‘What am I?’ The Little Thing asks. Along the way, it meets a number of different characters, including a tomato, a roll of toilet paper, a shower head, a muffin and a corn on the cob, to guide The Little Thing towards its ultimate joyful insight. ”

Cave on also read the work as an audiobook, which can be downloaded at the time of purchase by the artist In the Cave Things online store. The audiobook also features music from both Cavel and Bad Seeds From Warren Ellis.

In September Cave announced his intention to tell in his upcoming book Faith, Hope and Carnage about what it has been like to live after the death of a teenage boy.
