The president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), stated on Monday night, the 6th, that there is no possibility of Congress making fiscal targets more flexible for the rest of the country in the wake of the recognition of the public calamity in Rio Grande do Sul. South because of the floods.
The statement was given after deputies approved a Legislative Decree Project (PDL) that removes from the fiscal target the resources that will be used to recover the damage caused by the rains in the State. The proposal was announced today by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and analyzed by deputies in a matter of hours, with urgent processing, which allows voting directly in plenary, without first going through committees. The text was for analysis by the Senate.
“All legislative measures at this moment are to serve Rio Grande do Sul, without any possibility of relaxing our fiscal targets, for the rest of the country, with spending control, with all fiscal responsibility”, said Lira, to journalists.
The president of the Chamber, however, did not rule out changes to laws and the Constitution to help the State. “We cannot say that there will be no legislative changes. Bill, complementary law, PEC, all of this can happen,” he declared.
