In an interview, president of the Chamber of Deputies claims to defend the restriction of ADIs to issues defeated in the plenary
The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL) said on Tuesday (April 23, 2024) that it considers that the STF (Supreme Federal Court) “It has its excesses” and that leaves the judicial sphere and enters the legislative sphere. According to him, the Supreme Court has been encouraged to enter the scope of the Legislature by “minorities” defeated.
“We often talk about the Judiciary, which has its excesses, they are clear, today it is building a convergence and goes beyond its functions and begins to legislate, and Congress reacts”said in an interview with the program “Conversation with Bial”from TV Globo.
The deputy said he believes in the self-restraint of powers and that he does not have any personal problems with any minister of the Court. He declared that he considers the President of the Supreme Court, Roberto Barroso, to be a good articulator and revealed that he had spoken with Minister Alexandre de Moraes last week. However, he classified the conversation as generic.
The deputy also stated that he defends the restriction of the use of ADI (Direct Actions of Unconstitutionality) to advance proposals that did not pass in the plenary, because he considers that the final word must belong to the legislature.
