NBA star Irving is accused of anti-Semitism – the club reacts
new York Kyrie Irving has been criticized for linking to a film with anti-Semitic content. The Brooklyn Nets club owner immediately reacted to his player’s behavior.
NBA superstar Kyrie Irving has once again drawn the anger of the Brookyln Nets with his behavior off the court. The 30-year-old posted a link to a film on social media whose content is considered anti-Semitic. The franchise from the professional basketball league NBA reacted promptly.
“I’m disappointed that Kyrie appears to be supporting a film based on a book full of anti-Semitic disinformation,” club owner Joe Tsai wrote on Twitter on Friday (local time). He said he wants to “sit down with Irving and make sure he understands that this is hurtful to all of us,” Tsai said. It is wrong to “promote hatred based on race, ethnicity or religion”.
The club also released a statement: “The Brooklyn Nets strongly condemn the toleration and promotion of any form of hate speech,” it said: “We believe that our first action in these situations must be an open and honest dialogue.”
It’s not the first time Irving has been criticized. The star player missed numerous Nets games because of his refusal to be vaccinated against Corona.
