With Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth now available in stores for a couple of months, perhaps the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio could be ready to reveal next upcoming game, with the team announcing a new live next week in which “an important announcement” could come. To be precise, the livestream is scheduled for 1pm Italian on April 1st.
The live broadcast was revealed with a message from the studio's official profile on X | Twitter, which states that “lots of information about Ryu Ga Gotoku's latest products” will be shared for the occasion and “also, will there be an important announcement from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio?”. It will be possible to follow her on YouTube at this address.
A real announcement, an April Fool's joke, or both?
Now, that question mark at the end of the message certainly raises some doubts, as does the date chosen for the live broadcast, i.e. April 1st, so there is the risk that it is a joke announcement and nothing more. It must be said, however, that even the first film of Yakuza: Like a Dragon which showed the series' transition to turn-based combat was presented and received as a April Fool in 2019, only to later turn out to be a real project.
It's impossible to say exactly what RGG Studio's next project will be, but one of the most popular candidates is a new chapter in the series Judgment, although we cannot a priori rule out yet another spin-off of Like a Dragon or a new IP. We'll see.
