Liga MX: Will they be punished? Cerro Porteño demands payment from Club América for Cecilio Domínguez

The FIFA has officially notified the America club that has an outstanding debt with Cerro Porteño, this for the concept of “Resale rights” of Cecilio Dominguez. According to reports, the azulcrema team did not pay the payment for this concept in a timely manner when it sold the Paraguayan attacker to Independiente de Avellaneda more than 5 years ago.

America searched for the attacker in 2017 precisely Cerro Porteño from whom he bought it, but the clause was added to the sales contract that if at any time Domínguez left the Águilas, then they would have to pay him for the resale, this equivalent to 10% of the sale. Thus, the footballer left America in 2019 for the Argentine team.

Through a statement FIFA indicated that America has a maximum of 45 days to pay off its debt. “The payment of 5% of the annual interest on 100 thousand dollars from June 5 to November 24, 2023 and another 5% annual interest on 220 thousand dollars for the same period,” reads the report that was shown.

So America would have to pay only Cerro Porteño something like 320 thousand dollars, in addition to other expenses for the trial, both to the Paraguayan club and to FIFA for the procedure. If America does not comply with this order, FIFA could be sanctioned.
