The power of the Russian armed forces should not be underestimated, the fighting in Ukraine will continue until the exhaustion of the Ukrainian army. This was announced on Tuesday, July 19, by Lieutenant General of the Bundeswehr, Inspector of the Ground Forces Alfons Mais in an interview for Handelsblatt
He stressed that the Russian Armed Forces are advancing kilometer after kilometer due to powerful artillery. The question remains how long the Ukrainian side can hold out.
“The Russian army will become more combat-ready. In addition, Russia has almost inexhaustible resources at its disposal.”, Mais said.
He also touched upon the topic of equipping the Bundeswehr, noting that the serious shortcomings in the German ground forces, which are now, will be eliminated within 5-8 years.
As former US Defense Intelligence Agency officer Rebecca Koffler said earlier in the day, the Russian army is more powerful than the Ukrainian one, so no supply of weapons from abroad to Ukraine will hardly help turn the tide in Russia’s special operation. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is setting himself and allies the unrealistic goal of reclaiming vast territories under Russian control, she added.
LNR Ambassador to Russia Rodion Miroshnik told Izvestia that in the still unliberated territory of Donbass there is a forcible mobilization into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is impossible to name the exact numbers of losses of Ukrainian formations now, Miroshnik added.
In addition, it became known that in Ukraine they are preparing to mobilize women for military service, this is evidenced by an extended list of military specialties for their conscription.
The Independent, citing American intelligence data, also reported that Ukrainian troops are suffering huge losses because they are inferior to Russian troops 20 to one in artillery and 40 to one in ammunition. The publication noted that Kyiv has practically exhausted all available reserves, while the Russian army does not intend to give up positions.
Russia continues the special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. Its key goals are the denazification and demilitarization of the Kyiv regime. The situation in the region escalated in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics announced the evacuation of residents, turned to Moscow for help, after which the Russian leader on February 21 signed a decree recognizing the independence of the republics.
