Thanks to the holidays established as such in the Federal Labor Law (LFT)workers in the Mexican formal sector have guaranteed their rest or, failing that, a triple payment for carrying out work activities during said day.
Under this understanding, a few months ago a proposal to reform the Federal Labor Law (LFT) was presented to add more holidays for workers in the Mexican formal sector.

Thus, if the reform to the Federal Labor Law (LFT) is approved, which seeks to give more days of rest or triple payments to workers in the Mexican formal sector, The following would be the new holidays for Mexican employees:
*May 5 for the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla
*On May 10 for the Commemoration of Mother’s Day.
*On May 15 for the Commemoration of Teacher’s Day.
*November 1 and 2 for the Day of the Dead.
It is worth mentioning, at this point, that it was last May 2023 when a local deputy from Mexico City, the Morenoist Nazario Norberto Sánchezpresented an initiative to reform the Federal Labor Law (LFT) before the Mexican Congress to add more holidays to those currently contemplated in Mexican laws on the matter.
Therefore, in the event that the labor reform were approved in the Mexican Congress of the Union, this is how the table of paid holidays in the Mexican national territory would look like:
I. The 1st. from January
II. The first Monday of February in commemoration of February 5
III. The third Monday of March in commemoration of March 21
IV. The 1st of May
V. May 5 for the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla
SAW. On May 10 for the Commemoration of Mother’s Day
VII. On May 15 for the Commemoration of Teacher’s Day
VIII. September 16
XI. November 1st for the Day of the Dead.
XII: November 2
XIII. The third Monday of November in commemoration of November 20
XIV. October 1st
XV. December 25
XVI. That determined by the federal and local electoral laws, in the case of ordinary elections, to carry out the election day
However, to date the reform of the LFT to have more holidays in Mexico has not advanced in the Federal Legislative Branch, so the table remains as follows:
I. The 1st. from January
II. The first Monday of February in commemoration of February 5
III. The third Monday of March in commemoration of March 21
IV. The 1st of May
V. September 16
SAW. The third Monday of November in commemoration of November 20
VII. October 1st
VIII. December 25
IX. That determined by the federal and local electoral laws, in the case of ordinary elections, to carry out the election day.
