Who is Leysi Suárez?
Leysi Suarez, whose real name is Layce Janny María Zamudio Juárez, is a former vedette, announcer, singer and host, who developed her artistic career in different Peruvian television programs from the age of 15. She was born on September 22, 1985, making her currently 38 years old. She is now part of the morning magazine 'América hoy', along with Edson Dávila, Ethel Pozo, Janeth Barboza and Brunella Horna; She also hosts the radio program 'Ke ricas mornings', from La Karibeña.
What happened to Leysi Suárez?
It was the year 2008 when Leysi Suárez rose to international fame after the publication of a sensual photo of her. She posed naked on top of a horse with the Peruvian flag. “I know Mauricio Diez Canseco and Daysi Ontaneda, and they tell me that I have to take some photos. They told me to put on a costume to take the photos (…). Never in my life did I imagine it was disrespectful. They paid me because I was the image of the magazine. I was the first cover,” she explained.
The event grabbed covers and headlines. She was denounced by the Ministry of Defense for a crime classified in the Penal Code, an entity that expected to punish her with four years in prison. The ministry showed its rejection of the material through a statement in which it could be read: “It is a disrespectful action and an insult to national symbols, that cannot go unpunished and that have generated the indignation of the community that feels, above all, in these national days, what Peru and its symbols mean.”

The trial lasted three months and later she apologized: “I would like to appeal to the people who felt offended at some point by a publication, but we must continue working.” Likewise, she expressed her disagreement with those who said that she hid from justice: “Until yesterday I was working in the province of Santiago de Chuco, 14 hours from Lima and arriving in Trujillo (La Libertad).”

The anecdotal event not only played a trick on Suárez, but the contracts rained down on him. “I traveled to the United States and, when I returned, I started getting contracts to go to the racetrack, to take photos with the horses.
