Lenovo is reportedly working on a new portable gaming device. Following the success of the Legion Go, the company would like to expand its portfolio of devices and, in this sense, the next model is said to be a more “compact and portable” option. The new portable device should be called Legion Go “Lite” and, as the suffix suggests, it could be much lighter and less bulky than its standard counterpart.
Going into the details of the leak, reported by Windows Central, sources close to Lenovo say that the Lenovo Legion Go Lite portable device will feature the same Ryzen Z1 APUs as AMD; as a result, no performance compromises are expected. There are no precise details, but the name suggests that the most significant changes compared to the standard Legion Go will concern the physical appearance of the device, which could have a renewed design with the aim of reduce weight and size of the original, which as we highlighted in the review of the Lenovo Legion Go is quite massive.
We can also expect a reduction in screen size and other similar changes, but it would be premature to speculate further at the moment. However, it is interesting to point out that, unlike the Nintendo Switch Lite, the Lite model of Lenovo Legion Go should maintain the detachable controllers.
The news of a Lenovo Legion Go Lite would be part of a general process of expansion of the offer: a Lenovo APAC representative had already mentioned that the company wanted to expand the Legion Go line with next generation offers, therefore the company could surprise us by also changing the basic architectures. So far Legion Go has been a successful product for Lenovo: not only has it expanded the segment of AMD Ryzen Z1-based portable devices, but Lenovo has done a great job providing a performing device at an attractive price.
For the “Lite” counterpart we could have a similar scheme, perhaps with a price range aggressive, under €500. What do you think about it? Would you be interested in a similar device?
