The Porsche 963 has been rebuilt
Jota Sports has had a rather special weekend so far in Le Mans. The team that fields two customer Porsche 963s recorded an accident in FP2 by the #12 which essentially involved the reconstruction of the Hypercar because it was necessary to change the chassis damaged in the impact.
Although they had gained access to the Hyperpole, the crew of Callum Ilott, Will Stevens and Norman Nato had to miss the Hyperpole, FP3 and FP4 due to repairs, but yesterday – rest at activities on the track in view of the start today at 4.00 pm – the team moved to the nearby airport to carry out a shakedown to verify that everything worked on the #12 Porsche 963.
“It was a great feeling to be back in the car, even if the ‘track’ was a bit wet and obviously we had to take things slowly – the words of Callum Ilott relating to the shakedown reported by the newspaper sportscar365.com – they were just a few kilometres, but enough to check that all the systems were in order. Will Stevens will complete the checks in the warm-up. I thank the team for all the work done, it’s touching to be part of this team, the mechanics were heroic.” Jota Sport won the 6 hours of Spa with the #12 which will start from the fourth row today ready to do battle in the legendary endurance race which sees 6 Porsche 963s at the starting line.
